They call them challenges for a reason! The Heart 2 Heart challenge to create a card using "fancy folding" was, well, challenging. The only cards I have made that involved more than folding a sheet in half to make a card base have been gateway cards like this one from last year:
After scouting out the blogs, I settled on a diagonal double pocket card. Haley published a link to this easy tutorial on her blog, The Ink Scrapper. The main challenge with the folding is positioning your 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper so that the pattern on the paper ends up where you like it. This is not an issue with an over all consistent pattern, but a paper where different parts of the sheet have different graphics is another story. I test folded a piece of printer paper and made this cheat sheet to help me visualize what part of the paper would show where:
Head on over to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog to see what other Close to My Heart fans have come up with. I am definitely going to try some other types of fancy folded cards! I think I will try a napkin fold card like Kim made next. Thank you for stopping by! Until next time, Hansi
These are the supplies I used, all from Close to My Heart unless otherwise noted:
Paper: La Belle Vie, Colonial White cardstock
Ink: Vineyard Berry (retired), Smokey Plum, Bamboo, Black
Stamps: "Find Your Style" (retired)
Embellishments: Opaques Pearl Flourish, brad and button from Antiqued Gold Mini Medley, Designer Pewter brad (retired), light tan and pearl opaques, Sweet Leaf ribbon (retired), black ribbon from Michael's
Other Stuff: Artiste Cricut Cartridge, border punch from ek
These cards are lovely, and I so appreciate your idea of the printer-paper cheat sheet. Folded cards can be challenging! I think you either have that kind of brain or not (kind of like being geographically-challenged!). Here is a link to more folded cards, for your viewing pleasure!
